I Can Do More
A driving licence as a step towards independence
The “I Can Do More” Driving Licence programme is run by the Pankracy Foundation in cooperation with the ORLEN Foundation.
The programme supports young people from family-based care, including foster families and family-type children’s homes in obtaining a driving licence. For participants, it is more than a course and an exam. It means greater independence, easier access to work and education, and greater freedom in everyday life.
For many young people, getting a driving licence is a natural stage of growing up. For young people in alternative care, family-type children’s homes and foster families, however, it can be difficult to achieve. The cost of the course, medical examinations, tests and travel often exceeds the means of a young person who is only beginning to build their independence.
That is why the “I Can Do More. Driving Licence” programme was created. Its goal is to level the playing field for young people who want to gain a practical tool that can help them enter adulthood. A driving licence can open the way to a first job, work placements, school, vocational courses and greater independence in everyday life.
The programme is open to young people from different parts of Poland. Participants can apply for support in obtaining driving licences in different categories, depending on their needs, career plans and circumstances. For some, this will be category B; for others, qualifications connected with a particular career path or further development.
Recruitment to the programme is based on online applications, interviews, an assessment of motivation and participants’ readiness to participate responsibly in the course. We want the support to reach people who genuinely want to make use of this opportunity and are ready to commit to the entire process.
The Pankracy Foundation stays in regular contact with participants. We monitor progress, speak with driving schools, support young people in organising the next stages of the course and remind them to provide updates. The programme is not simply about paying for a course. It is also about accompanying participants through a process that requires consistency, responsibility and perseverance.
Thanks to our cooperation with the ORLEN Foundation, young people receive an opportunity that can have a real impact on their future. A driving licence increases mobility, and mobility often means more choice: of jobs, schools, places to live, internships, work placements and everyday opportunities.
Applications for the second edition closed on 7 September 2026. Learn more about the programme.
We believe independence begins with practical tools. Sometimes it is a conversation, sometimes a mentor, sometimes a first job, and sometimes a document that allows a young person to move forward. The “I Can Do More. Driving Licence” programme is about exactly that moment: when a young person can say that they now have more possibilities ahead of them than before.
